We are looking for an enthusiastic Chinese speaking individual with a strong Food Purchasing background to join our Head Office on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have strong organisation skills, strong supervisory skills, strong interpersonal skills and be able to multi-task in a busy Purchasing office environment. Position: Purchasing Manager Location: Tottenham (N17), may be required to carry out store visits occasionally Contract: Full time, Permanent No. of vacancies: 1 Salary: 35,000 – 45,000 per annum, depending on experience Benefits: 28 days holiday (including Bank Holidays), staff discount, pension scheme About the Role As a Purchasing Manager, you are responsible to ensure the smooth operation of our Purchasing department, leading and managing the purchasing team, coordinating with other departments, stores, and suppliers. You will also work closely with Senior Management.

Duties include but not limited to: Ensure good stock availability for all key products, imported and local products, which will enable optimum performance, profitability and increase in turnover. Deliver a balanced, wide variety and profitable product range for all stores, which reflect the current market trends and local customer demand Negotiate competitive prices from suppliers as well as securing promotional deals Monitor and ensure store product queries are processed immediately by the Purchasing department Produce weekly reports for stock availability, product / category performance, range changes and current market information Source new suppliers and product lines and propose to Directors Oversee and review the Marketing promotions with Purchasing and Marketing teams. Monitor and suggest marketing strategy for products going out of date Ensure accurate product information including pricing, description and packing is entered into the system Review and develop the Company’s purchasing and pricing strategy Manage a profitable exit plan for discontinued items and seasonal items Work with Marketing team to develop a planogram and merchandising plan which is tailored to each store requirements Analyse and use business information to support the procurement of product with forecasts, actual sales and desired trends Develop relationships with suppliers to support business growth and maximising the profitability of the business Maintain departmental performance against Key performance indicator targets for the Purchasing department Proactively learn and understand the functions and processes of each team member in your department Hold regular performance reviews and annual appraisals for your team members to identify progression opportunities and ensure a succession plan is in place for more senior roles. Requirements: Ability to write and speak Mandarin / Cantonese is essential Previous experience in FMCG and buying environment in the food industry is essential Excellent computer skills, especially knowledge in Microsoft Office and Outlook Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel is essential Experience on Sage is desirable Strong communication and negotiation skills, be able to work with personnel of all levels and backgrounds Ability to build strong relationships with staff and suppliers Ability to mentor, support, and coach junior and new team members Ability to work under pressure and remain calm and meet deadlines Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple assignments promptly and accurately Excellent analytical and numeracy skills, good attention to detail Highly organised and self-motivated Flexible attitude to hours of work Approachable and has a can-do attitude Must have the legal right to work in the UK (without sponsorship)
